Stillness of the mind vs Overwhelm

How do we use overwhelm to grow spiritually?

How do you use overwhelm to spiritually awaken?

How do you use overwhelm to self actualize?

How do we use overwhelm to benefit ourselves, physically and materially?

I have been putting off writing another post because, well, I didn’t know what to write about! Oddly, this wasn’t because I don’t have anything to write; instead it is because I have had so many things going on I didn’t know how to choose among them. . . that’s when it struck me. I could write about the overwhelm I am feeling.

What is overwhelm?

OVERWHELM IS A FEELING OF BEING

INNUNDATED OR BURIED BY SOMETHING

(FEELINGS, ACTIVITIES, WATER, ETC.)

Overwhelm is a feeling that we all feel at one time or another in life.  For me, overwhelm is a feeling I’ve been experiencing often over the last 6 months.  Why am I feeling overwhelm? When I was working from home I felt overwhelmed with feelings of anxiety and when my dog got sick I had overwhelming feelings of worry and upset. When she died a month later I felt overwhelming grief.  When I started traveling I felt intermittent overwhelming exhaustion and wonder.  When my travels took me to old friends and family I felt overwhelming awe, love, and gratitude and when I met my niece (who is a COVID baby) for the first time, I felt an overwhelming sense of joy and connection.

To Learn How to Deal with Overwhelm Read On

Some overwhelming feelings have been hard and painful. Some of the overwhelming feelings have been soft and joyful.  Nevertheless, whether the overwhelm is painful or joyful it can still feels like you are being buried beneath a huge mass of emotions!  This is not only confusing, it can also be transformative, and I am currently going through one of the biggest transformations of my life.

How to deal with Overwhelm
What to do when emotions overwhelm you

Transformation is the process of becoming something new.  Another word for transformation is metamorphosis.  Many things go through metamorphism.  The most popular example of this is the caterpillar that transforms into a butterfly after becoming a cocoon of formless goo.  I think I’m in the formless goo inside the cocoon stage of my own transformation.  Which makes me wonder, will I look back on these blogs and cringe…or will I look back and see the courage it took to live out loud at such a vulnerable time of my life? Maybe a little of both.  Only time will tell.

So, the question remains: how do we use overwhelm to our own benefit?

First, we change how we look at overwhelm from a problem to opportunity.

A problem is something we fix.

An opportunity is something we take advantage of.

To fix something is to simply clean it up, get rid of it, repair it, etc.  From this place, we are trying to get out of or get rid of the overwhelm.

Another word for transformation is metamorphosis

Can overwhelm be an opportunity
Overwhelm can be a sign of opportunity to become self actualized.

Transformation is the process of becoming something new

However, if we look at overwhelm as an opportunity, then we can use the overwhelm to help us in some way.  We can leverage overwhelm to get us more of something, further in something, or get something we want faster!!  Now that sounds much more appealing and much more useful than fixing a problem, doesn’t it?!?  I think so.

So, if we try on this idea of looking at overwhelm as an opportunity to use or leverage.  We ask different questions than we would if we were fixing a problem. And different questions get different answers.

“The important thing is to never stop asking questions.”

~Albert Einstien

For example if I feel overwhelmed with LOVE.

Problem: How do I get away from this? How do I hide my feelings? How do I stop the emotion?

Opportunity: What do I learn from this? How do I grow my emotional strength? Who will accept me as I am?  How can I learn to trust (God, myself, this person) more?  How do I express this emotion?  Where will this new level of emotion benefit me?  How can I use this new level of emotion in my health, relationships, or prosperity!?!

When we look at things as problems = our options are limited, difficult, negative, or tinted gray.

Yet when we look at things as opportunities = our options (possibilities) become unlimited, limitless, challenging, fun, intriguing, positive, enlivening, exciting, and colorful!

Now, which kind of life do you want to lead and what kind of life do you want to live?

There have been so many times that people have paid me thousands of dollars for just a few coaching sessions because they are convinced that the problems they are facing are so difficult to change and that changing them will take a long time. Yet, when we start to work together by talking about “the problems” they are facing they find their perspective changes so rapidly that the things around them change from long-term problems to fast moving opportunities more quickly then they ever could have imagined!  Why?  Because I ask them different questions then their own minds were asking.

I ask questions from a place of opportunity versus a place of problem. And since I am asking “opportunity questions” we get limitless, fun, positive and colorful answers that create new, fun, and enlivening options to play in.

Would you like to know what the key to opening up this new ability within yourself is?!?

When I have used this key it has given the answers to recover my health, improve my relationships, and even expand my community and prosperity.

My friends have used this key to find love, create family, and increase their own prosperity.

My clients have used this key to gain clarity and insights into important matters in their lives, and gain the power, freedom, and abundance they have always wanted but thought they could never have because they had tried everything else!

Would you like to know what that key to opening up this new ability within yourself?

The Key transforming your problems into opportunities is…Curiosity.

The Key to transforming problems into opportunities is…

Curiosity!

~Coach Sarah Kay Harrison

To gain curiosity you only need ONE thing.  .  .

This one thing is free.  It does not require connections to powerful people or any major resources but it will give you one of the most powerful spiritual and mental tools you could ever have for manifesting a splendid reality in the physical/material world.

The greatest inventors, musicians, millionaires/billionaires, leaders in all walks of life knew about and used this one thing almost daily, sometimes multiple times a day for years and years and years on end!

I used this one thing to get healthy and increase my income.

What is that ONE thing?  Would you like to know?  If you had this one thing, what would you use it to create in your life?  In other words, what do you want?  Not the surface thing like money or stuff, but the deeper thing that you want?  Do you want to be loved and accepted by people who really know you and celebrate who you are on the inside and love sharing time with you?  Do you want to provide a life for your children where they truly have the power to be happy and make a difference in the world? (Your Legacy). What do you really want?

If you want to know that one thing, it is time.  Quiet time to be specific.  It is even better if you take quiet time with a pen and some paper.

Let that sink in for a moment. . .

Curiosity requires you to be still long enough to get curious… and creative.

And I find it is hard to intentionally sit still doing nothing unless I can write down what is happening in my head.

For example:

1.) What questions is my mind coming up with?  I write those down so I can clearly see them written out and know if they are coming from the problem side or the opportunity side of questions.

2.) What options/possibilities/opportunities am I discovering from my new opportunity questions? I write them down so I can clearly see my choices when I am done with this exercise.

So let’s recap what we learned today about the benefits of overwhelm.

Ancient Key to Spiritual Awakening on leaves
The Key to All the Benefits of Spiritual Awakening is Curiousity

1. Overwhelm is a sign that you are becoming something new.

2. Overwhelm can be used or leveraged to become spiritually awakened or self actualized.

3. Overwhelm is a sign that you are going through a transformation or metamorphosis

4. Overwhelm helps you create/manifest more of what you want in your deep desires – spiritually, mentally, or materially.

5. To make use of overwhelm we use the key to Abundance called “Curiosity”.

6. To gain the ability to turn the key of “curiosity” we need quiet time.

Whew!  That’s a lot!  Are you feeling overwhelmed?

Great! Then it’s time to get to work!

Are you feeling more clear?

Great! It’s time to celebrate!

No matter how you feel right now, look at it as an opportunity to grow (spiritually, mentally, and physically) and take a little time to get curious about how that feeling will benefit you and you will get benefits in how your mind and body work in the world.

So whether you want to lose weight and gain your sexy back.

Or you want to improve your relationships and grow your community.

Or you want to increase your prosperity and make more of a positive difference in the world.

Looking at your feelings, overwhelm or otherwise, as an opportunity which will benefit you – will give you benefits beyond your imagination!!

Happy creating!

Don’t wish for Abundance, Play for it!
